You wrote <<Remember the? $7,000 904 Porsche that everybody passed on? LMFAO!>>I'd forgotten about those. The 904s were probably the reason Porsche would only commit to 400 (or something near that) Turbo's when they were 1st introduced.
Also, remember the Cobra Daytona Coupes? There were only 6 made and when they were no longer included in any racing classes they considered putting them on a barge and taking them into the North Sea and dumping them in the Sea! Now they go for $5MM each when they happen to change hands.
This was before the days of vintage racing.... Hmmm.... wonder if a Prius will ever be valuable <g> Take care - https://www.nrahq.org/nrabonus/accept-membership.asp Free 1 year NRA membership to anyone interested!----- Original Message ----- From: <red5hilser [at] aol.com>

Yea, that 250 TR used to be my favorite vintage racer too . . . but the more that I study?Tauffi's 1957 Mile Miglia winning 315 S, that was featured in CAVALLINO #137, it has to be the ultimate for it's raw beauty and brute performance, imho.Too bad that Portago, driving a sister 315 S, his co-driver and over a dozen spectators had to die that year, thus ending one of the open road races in racing history. An interesting side note to the last race was that Stirling Moss, who had won in '55,?driving a Mercedes 300SLR, and was among the favorites in this race, had the brake peddle snap off of his Maserati 450 (coupe?) just after the start, about 10 kms down the road. This same?Ferrari (chasis?s/n 0684) sold in August, 1964 for US$3,500. By Nov., 1992 it was for sale at $US7,5000,000.It's owned by John McCaw now, purchased from one Eernie Ecclestone in 1998, and he's not telling how much he paid. <g>One question: Where the hell was I in 1964?Hey Doug: Remember the? $7,000 904 Porsche that everybody passed on? LMFAO!Yer pal, Ferrari Bubba -----Original Message----- From: Fellippe Subject: Re: [Ferrari] 250 TR Draws Record Bid On Mon, May 18, 2009 at 11:01 PM, Charles Perry <charles [at] carolina-sound.com>wrote:http://wheels.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/05/18/ferrari-sells-for-a-record-12 4-million/?emc=eta1<http://wheels.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/05/18/ferrari-sells-for-a-record-12%0A4-million/?emc=eta1>This is the most gorgeous vintage Ferrari I've seen in awhile...
