DUH my friend.
Ayep - ever since Lockheed in the late teens applied hydraulics' to brakes various systems abounded - but I think Ford was one of the last to convert to hydraulics in the late 30's or early 40's.

308 brakes = Porsche 914 brakes? Sorta. The 308 rears are mechanically
similar and mounted upside down as compared to the 914.

One difference is they have a spacer for the wider brake rotor. The
similarity is they are touchy to replace the pads. Just remember to UNSCREW
the clearance ratchet thingamajig (highly technical term) and DON'T press
the old pads against the pistons to gain clearance. This action will corrupt
the thingajig. After that - its pretty straight forward make sure you get
final pad to rotor clearance with a feeler gauge.

I'm rebuilding my rear calipers as we speak. Found good techarticle at
PelicanParts.com re: 914 rear caliper rebuild
