Temperature or fan doesn't turn off?   What year?

I've just had to adjust my 308 heater water valves to squeeze the
last bit of adjustment to stop water flow.  Remove spare and cover
over the brakes etc for access (dozen phillip screws).  Separate 
water system for left and right system but located together on the left.
