Thanks to everyone who's made suggestions to date.  Hugely useful input, and
will respond personally to folks when I get my head above water later this
week.  

Please feel free to continue contributing; we're plotting routes now, and
hope to finalize by this weekend.  And by then, hopefully will be able to
announce the details of what we have in mind.  :-)

Howdy, all.  Will be making a cross-country drive in early August from
Boston to Manhattan then out to Monterey, CA.  Should take 5-6 days.
Looking for suggestions/advice on good routes to take.  Will be four of us
in a convoy, driving some very cool machinery (details to be announced
later, he said with a grin).  Possible stops include Las Vegas, Moab,
Denver, Grand Canyon, Chicago, St Louis, and more.  

Basically, want to get as West as fast as possible, as our thinking is that
the more enjoyable parts of the trip would be further west, but open to
ideas.  Could take the more northerly route through Chicago and then Denver,
but a more southerly route is also a possibility. 

Places to stop/stay, cool car-gatherings, GREAT ROADS, etc., would be
appreciated.  (And, if this works out, we'll probably be a rolling
car-gathering/cool thing too.)  :-)
