The 33rd Race will be held Feb 2010 in  Ras al-Khaimah, UAE not far from the F1
track.  Entries from 20 teams which include Russia, Greece, France, Italy, 
Spain, 
Germany, Sweden, and China.  The US team is the BMW Oracle trimaran. 

Defender is a Swiss catamaran which had to be helicoptered over the 
alps because of it's beam (width).

Like F1, the design rules require an engineering degree to understand.
The technology is commensurate with F1 regarding hi tech go-fasts which now 
include motors and hydralics to replace manpower to sheet the sails.

Pre-regatta is taking place July 10-19 (NOW) in Valencia yet no tv coverage.
The F1 is July 21-23 immediately following.   

Two pre-regattas will hone the 17 entries to a final two.  BMW is testing the 
Oracle 
in San Diego this weekend and may name it's sister boat, named the USA.
