Ah man it looked nice and I got it with about 4 other watches, I don't even wear a watch unless I go out all fancy, and that almost never happens :). Besides who would even recognize a Patek Phillipe? A Rolex sure... Heck I had no idea until after buying it and then I looked it up online...

But to answer your question... The guy who blew a million on a piece of jewelry, clearly not as smart as the guy who saved $999,940.00 for something that might actually be useful.

So which is worse? The guy that bought the original for over a mil,
or the guy that paid $60 to look like the former?

Enzo money? Veyron money? You could live pretty large for that watch...
Looks almost exactly like the one I got for $60...

That's not a typo, it's about 2 F40's in today's prices...

A lot of watches will hold their value much better than a Ferrari, and
won't break as often. So when it appreciates you can buy another
Ferrari, that has been depreciating!

Ah well,

I can get you several of those (at least close enough to fool most)...
I have one myself that I picked up in Shenzhen. Admittedly tougher to
bring these into Europe (I am told the fines are quite large). But it
wouldn't cost you a 308 either :)

But I have to say anyone who wants to trade their sports car in for a
watch (even if it were a Miata), is just not a car enthusiast. Sorry
Erik. I never will understand the "more money than sense watches" any
more than I get the whole Vertu business model. I see the appeal of a
Ferrari, all of the ones I have driven have unique sounds and driving
persona that makes you want to push it a bit harder everytime you get
behind the wheel, and no question they look amazing just sitting still,
but to exchange that experience for a piece of jewelry? Blasphemy I say!
