I am a big fan of ALMS and much prefer the general design and performance
capabilities of the cars compared to the Rolex sports car series.
However it looks as though they need to fiddle more with the formula for
diesel power vs. gas powered cars as the LMP1 race was a snooze. The
diesel powered Peugeots ran away from the gas powered Aston Martins. It's
too bad that the Audis weren't at Sebring this year.
The GT category is terrific and it was fun seeing some good competitive
racing in that class, at least until the Corvettes took themselves out of
contention with that bonehead pit calamity, the Flying Lizard Porsche lost three
laps after hitting the errant wheel from another Porsche and the BMWs
faded.
LMP2 was pretty fun but I don't really get the LMPC spec racer
category. Obviously ALMS still is experiencing difficulties in filling up
its fields and this is one way to draw more competitors into the series.
I hope that ALMS is able to stay afloat.
