Oh I totally agree on the torque thing,  much care should be taken with air tools!

Just got a short and long handle 3/8" air ratchet from harbor freight... $60. So not too bad!

If you're working from the wheel-wells, doing a belt service, they're invaluable.  If you have a frozen part, the handle on an air ratchet is going to want to 'turn' instead of the fastener - and your hand will be caught between the ratchet handle and whatever is about to be that spinning-ratchet's 'backstop'.  There are several folks who work on Ferraris in their own garage here in Greater New England - not many of them use a pneumatic ratchet for anything if they own a 'butterfly' wrench.  I have one, and I don't have a pneumatic ratchet at all.  If you're dead-set on spending money on one, by all means - but get a cheap one like Clyde suggests. 
 
My Ferrari mechanic Never, EVER uses a pneumatic for tightening ANY fastener on a car, no matter what it is - the Factory WSMs have torque specs for everything that no pneumatic can correctly torque to.  In his professional opinion, everything should be torqued by-hand.  Might seem like a PITA, but he's factory-trained - I'm not.

OK I am looking at a picture of one now, and I do not see how that would fit better than a ratchet?  Really its the overall length from the socket to the back that needs to be small to get into a tight spot, most often you have parts or chassis or a hole that you can just get your fist into to work on removing a bolt, or replace one, and a ratchet gets you in there, but an air ratchet saves your arm with a stubborn nut or bolt  :)  For example changing headers?  Very tight space for most cars, though my Ferrari was probably best case for doing something like that...  Much easier than the Vette (or M3's..., or god forbid I tried that with a Boxster!)...

Hi Mike -
    That Corvette exhaust sounds cool!  I'm adding another exhaust outlet to
the passenger side of the muffler on my 911.  Supposed to be an easy
add-on - only needs a hole saw to cut a 2.25" hole, then weld in a short
pipe that looks like the one on the drivers side & modify the lower valence.
Pretty basic stuff.  Those who have it say there's a deep rumble at idle
(but still pretty quiet) but it makes great  noises at higher rpm.  It's
supposed to pass any noise reqmnts.

    I have a air ratchet like you mentioned - I only use it occasionally and
I believe it came from Harbor Freight (as Clyde suggested) - but if it were
a daily tool I'd go with Chicago Pneumatics.
