Brake or swerve - you gots that right. 

 

Sleepy town down South decided to show dramatically the sadness of auto deaths - they painted a cross on the street where a person(s) had died in an auto wreck. 

 

Two months later they painted over the icons and placed the crosses at the road side. 

 

Seems folks did everything they could to keep from driving over a cross - to the detriment of on coming vehicles.  Don't recall any mirror image crosses painted in the other lanes - but there sure were some skid marks.  On the pavement and on the upholstery.

Pretty awful idea, IMHO.  I can just imagine all the drivers (at least in the U.S.) who would suddenly and dramatically dangerously brake and/or swerve.

THIS IS AMAZING!Speed controls being used in Eastern CanadaHow's this for excellent speed control? I don't know about you, but this would slow me down! People slow down and try to "straddle" the hole .....

This is actually a speed control device that is in use. It is much cheaper than speed cameras.

Pretty clever - especially when moved around each day.
