Take it to the next level, Rodney.

Put the stationary bicycle w/gen *inside* the car.  Then you can
pedal while you drive.

Hmmm.....  something seems inherently wrong here.....

Wait!!!  Better idea.  Put a wind-powered generator on the
front of the car.  Then you can charge it while you are driving.
Yeah, that's it!  Probably would work even better than my idea
of putting a big fan on a sailboat for when the wind dies.....

Forgive me if I get this wrong...  Argonne National Laboratory (former cold war nuke lab I believe) is in my backyard (literally).  I believe I read somewhere they were a leading research facility in the Midwest for Lithium Ion batteries for GM and BMW.  It's surrounded by my county's largest bike path through the forest preserve - 9.5 miles.  Hence why I have 10 bikes for myself and my friends to join me... :-)   Anyway. so if I drive an electric car and train on the bike path, all I have to do pull out my folding bike if I run out of charge or I can get one of those stationary bicycles with a generator hooked up to it and pedal on the side of the road to charge my battery just enough to get me home.  Problem solved.

Rodney
I came up empty at a bike auction today :-(
