Alonso vs. Galletta....

My brother just came back from Montreal....as some of you know he's an ultra competitive karter.

Here's what he wrote me:

"Trip was really fun. Got sun burnt on the last day but otherwise no complaints...lots of beautiful girls as expected. Did some karting and actually got a timesheet printout of what the Ferrari F1 team (drivers + engineers) did at the karting place. Alonso set the fastest time with a 28.718, I only managed a 30.472. A 1.754 gap but I was pretty disappointed because the two races I did were against mostly people that weren't that fast, so almost every lap I had to pass someone...aka very few clean laps. Hard to establish a rhythm when you get a clean lap 2 or 3 times a race. I'm quite sure my real best is somewhere in the 29's, probably mid to high 29's. I think I'm probably close to a second slower, which would feel great, I'm just pissed I didn't have a good opportunity to set my fastest time."

Naturally if that were me, I'd be ecstatic but he's already looking to rationalize a few tenths here & there....never content this kid! I should have asked him if Alonso wasn't having to pass slower people himself, hahaha. :)

Having said that I think he did very well. It also makes me feel better that maybe karting and real car racing aren't exactly proportional....I'd be hopeless if it was, lol.

He's definitely got the drive and skill, I sure wish I had the funds to put him into real racing, SCCA or something.
