My brother gave me a yard sign like that for Christmas that has a target silhouette with a bunch of holes in it. The caption reads "Nothing inside is worth dying for."
Aside from letting thieves know there are guns inside it's pretty cool. But I still trust my German Shepherds the most. They're usually not thrilled with people who are SUPPOSED to be there... :-)

They don't have anything but the sign. Thieves are lazy, like water, take the path of least resistence. So far it has worked.
