My only objection is with F1 in general.....why the obsession of glorifying a drivers championship? More importantly, why is that more important than the constructors championship?
Last time I checked most of us root for Ferrari, not Mercedes where our esteemed MS races for....and even when our favorite players leave our football, baseball, basketball, etc. teams we still don't change loyalty most of the time.
If you relegate driver victories and placement to a mere statistics column, you'll never have the need to have team orders because whoever will win should win.
Imagine a football player having to lateral a sure touchdown to a higher ranking player, or a basketball player forced to make an assist for the same reasons??
Ludicrous!

Well, I’m be in the minority and say that I was STOKED for a Ferrari 1-2 any way we can get it, especially with the dismal season we’ve had so far. There’s half a season to go, and we all know anything can happen.
That said, I’m sure it was heart-wrenchingly difficult for Massa, as it probably was in for him with past #1 drivers (MS, KR) and much like Rubens must have felt, too. But these guys are NOT driving their own cars or writing their own paychecks. They race for Scuderia Ferrari, and when the order comes, you obey… or you go race for Lotus, or HRT, or Virgin, etc. Yes it’s harsh, but they are EMPLOYEES at a company that plays a multi-million dollar game of chess at 200 MPH over a period of several months and across several continents. Welcome to the big time, boys. Racing is a sport, not a game (see Hemingway quote).
Also, based on the pace and split times I was seeing, I’m not so convinced that Vettel wouldn’t have at least had a serious chance to catch up to the Ferraris, and perhaps even challenge for the lead. Then if Vettel HAD passed Alonso because Alonso was held up by Massa, and even worse then dispatched Massa, then we’d be looking at a MUCH different point differential between us and Red Bull, and we’d be complaining about why Ferrari didn’t do something strategic to prevent it.
Ferrari made the right call. Tough to swallow for Massa and his fans, but the right call with so much at stake. We earned maximum points yesterday, with more points going to our fastest and best-positioned in the championship driver.
Plus, I used to think Alonso was a DB, but he’s starting to grow on me… maybe it’s his eyebrows? J

Absolutely agree with you, Paul.
It reminded me of the Austrian race (I think) where Rubens let Schummie pass right before the finish line, and then there was that scene on the podium.
In both cases, very sad to see.

Bitter Sweet - what should be a victory turns into a 'punch your fist through the wall instead' celebration.
You have to give credit to the way the team was hyped up prior to the race, given an do it or quit ultimatum.
Perhaps that demeanor was partly to blame.
And you have to admire the start of the race and the flawless and professional race they ran until the message came from on high.
As Massa a supporter, I grieve for a system which removes the incentive, all for the greater good.
Massa nearly lost 2nd place in a 'who cares' attitude and how can you blame him.
The championship is just not in the cards for him but who can accept that.

Guess life is like that at times but I don't have to accept or understand it.
There's a lesson there somewhere.
