Regarding resurfacing the various car pieces:

 

If there was any sign of fuel leakage or discoloration (dried fuel

residue), you will need to resurface, even if it looked OK with a

straight edge.  I've never seen one of these carbs (or any carb,

for that matter....) that didn't show signs of seepage (discoloration).
