Having absorbed content of various posts for 12 years now, I gather the engines are 'super tough' per owners who track their cars while engines are occasionally 'taken out' and rebuild by owners who have unnecessary maintenance done (IMHO remarkably frequent) or who have freak belt occurances.  Many talk about the bottom end being 'overengineered'.  One never hears about needing rings, bearings, or even a valve regrind.  Of course most owners seemingly draw back their driving when mileage gets above 70k.  There is occasional talk about the 120k mile 308 of a fellow who commuted daily but most cars said to be 'hi mile' cars are in their 60's kmiles.  For every car that has a problem, there are tens of cars which never experience any, mine included.  Most problems are just not engine related.   However the thought of a 12k usd rebuild is enough to scare everyone into changing belts more often than necessary.

Once you get beyond 40 year old cars, they are too valuable to experience frequent miles and engine hours is probably more relevant, the one gauge Ferrari never considered.

Hello,
Just a question, does anyone know how many miles a well maintained
Ferrari of the various eras, engine types, and models might run before needing
a top end or complete rebuild? How many rebuilds can the base engine survive?
