I just had a wonderful 30 minute backroad drive in a friend's euro 308GT4.

Wow...what a great car.

I hadn't driven or ridden in one for a few years, so I was overdue.

The steering feel was exceptional as I'd remembered from other 308s. The chassis
was perfectly balanced over a twisty section of DC park zone we call Rock Creek
Park.

When these 308 motors are setup right, they are exceptional. The low speed grunt
of the carbed motors sure does the job in a light euro spec chassis.

Power? Not bad. Not a monster, but holy F*CK it is a really fun car.

I was just telling a good friend about the 540bhp (from 4.7 liters), 9000rpm
motor I'm building for my '66 GT350. I was justifying it by telling him that
after owning my Mallett 7 liter C5R that put out just under 600bhp, it was tough
to go back to a "regular" engine.

But, I'm eating those words big time tonight. I'd buy a 308 again in a
heartbeat. Now, I was never a 308 doubter...not even close. But I just hadn't
thought about one in a few years.

For you guys out there with one, I'm jealous!

Great write up Deep, I appreciate the reminder why we liked these cars in the first place....

And yes, we don't need 400/500/600 hp to have fun in a car.

As for the 308 GT/4s, they keep getting more interesting with time don't they?? :)

You drove a relatively stock one right? Imagine driving THE SHADOW...

Haha..
