After 35 years of clapped out MGs, Triumphs, Morgans, Jags, Ferraris,
Mazdas (Miatas) and a Toyota Sienna Minivan (bulletproof!) the absolute worst
were the Jeeps that my wife liked to drive when we lived in New England. We had
a total of 4. All had major issues, even the 3 new ones. The worst of those was
our last Grand Cherokee. It ate the front brakes and rotors at 6,000 mi, again
at 12,00 mi. When the third set went at 24,000 mi, the dealer said “that’s it!”
even though we had a 36,000 mi bumper-to-bumper warranty. It even left us
stranded on Interstate 81 when the plastic gears that run the ignition timing
self destructed and it took 5 days to get a replacement. None were available in
a 3 state radius. At 26,000 mi, the transmission was starting to make noise. The
dealer started making noise to about what he would not. We traded the thing in
on the Sienna and never looked back. I will Never, Never, Never own another
jeep. Besides, we live in Tennessee now and never get more than a New England
dustin’.
