I know that you can shfit up an down with out using the clutch, but in street cars tranmisstions it can be hard on the syncros.
Nascar I believe don't actively use the clutch since most their driving is in top gear.
When I rode super bikes I never user the clutch going up. Cart used (can't spell ) Howland and their gears wear robust and straight cut and I believe no syncros so matching revs and double clutching was normal.Either Road and Track or Car and Driver had an excellent write up so that you could get home if your clutch failed. A couple of points they broung up was you would have to depress the clutch even if it was not working as most modern have a safty switch when starting the car and most car will start with the starter moter in gear.

Hi Stephen,
You wrote <<I assume (yes I know what that means) you drive with your left foot on the clutch!>>
If youâre asking me, the answer is no.  I donât rest my hand on the gearshift, either â for the same reason â it can cause damage.

BTW, am I wrong to assume pro race drivers donât use a clutch - but match revs going up and down without any clutch â except when first starting off?

I neither drive with my foot resting on the bake pedal or the clutch pedal it is on the dead pedal you know the one all the way to the left or the floor.
From you comment  I assume (yes I know what that means) you drive with your left foot on the clutch!

Hello Fellippe,
re: Left Foot Braking:
I never liked LF braking â to easy to apply the brakes slightly and either wear the pads quickly or cause lots of heat build-up to boil the Brake Fluid & damage things....   and itâs especially bad on the street where the driver behind never really knows f youâre braking or resting your foot on the brake....

Arenât brake lights becoming common in race cars?

Merry Christmas,

You know, all the complaining about paddle shifts got me thinking that at the very least the owners should learn how to left foot brake...

Anyone on here comfortable with it?
