Watch the paint and for any signs of rust. I think (if memory servers) the front strut towers were prone to corrosion if the car lived in certain climates, so give them a look over. I feel this was a time when Mercedes was having some quality control issues, so get a proper PPI on it, and make sure all the little gizmos work as they should. Again, from memory, I think these transmissions had extended service intervals, or fluid changes didn't allow complete renewal of the fluid or something, so check the condition of the trans, and the service history.
Nice all around car. I think Clyde has one of the previous model, which was really a different car, but he probably would be the one to ask as I'm sure he's better versed with them.
