Check if there is a Windows 7 product key on a decal applied to your computer, or on a recovery CD/DVD that came with it. If so, you can reactivate your copy of Windows and eliminate the message.

My computer is a Gateway FX6000 that came with an OEM copy of Windows 7?..I bought it from Best Buy.   I wonder if I should talk to them or Gateway.

YOu might have a bootleg copy of windows, and the windows automatic  update program thinks you are using a fake serial numbered copy. I had a Corporate copy of XP before that didn?t need a serial number to activate. But somehow Windows eventually discovered it was a bootleg install and notified me of the same thing.

The only problem you should have now is that you cant download / install any updates for Windows. Otherwise you can keep using it as is .

So, I restarted my computer a couple times yesterday and now I get a message in the lower right corner of my desktop saying:  ?Windows 7  Build 7600  This copy of Windows is not genuine?

What does that mean?    Anyone ever see this?
