We used to park at the Longueil metro station on the south side, then take the metro 1 stop to the Island. Easy in and out.  Many parking spots are there around the metro and hotels and you wont get caught in downtown traffic before& after the race. There are not too many good places to watch from around the track as a general Admission ticket holder. The  track has  plywood hoardings covering 95 %  of the fences around the track , limiting the viewing spots to the few general admission areas below some grandstands.
The  Canadian Dollar has really soared against the US $ recently . Last time I was there, you could get  130 + Can Dollars for 100 US dollars. Now you get 95 Can Dollars for 100 US.Hotels are a premium that race weekend as usual.

Looks like I'll be in Boston for work right before/after the Canadian GP.
I'm trying to decide if it is worth going up to Montreal from Boston (about a 6 hour drive) to stand around with a General Admission ticket ($80) to see the race?
Where would be the best locations on the track to see the race with a GA ticket? How are the crowds and transportation near the track? Places to park?
Any other tips from the veterans?

I probably would not be spending much time in Montreal taking in the sights of the city. What are the must see's?

Last time I saw F1 was 1983 in Long Beach!
