All,

I am very saddened by the horrible crash in LV yesterday, on the heels of the horrific air crash in Reno this is very sad. My feeling is that Nascar vehicles can bump around as they are similar to giant bumper cars however the open wheel cars ala Indy and Grand Prix
cars are very dangerous when wheels come in contact launching cars in to the air. This is not new and was the cause of the death of our favorite driver Gilles Villeneuve, and even more recent if not injurious F1 crashes.

Here is the Las Vegas crash which is early similar although involving way more cars. I do not think the Indy chassis are as strong as the F1 cars are but doubt any car could have held up under these conditions

I think the oval allows too many cars to go to fast side by side. Not suggesting any changes however maybe the roll cages should be enlarged or strenghtened

As long as there are motorsports there will be crashes an that is why they are called death defying sports as every time a pilot takes to the wheel
they are risking their lives. Fortunately for us the sport has become safer than in the 60's where it was not uncommon for many drivers to die in a season…

Just my observations
