Clyde don't be so restrained and polite, tell us what you really think!!!
lol Classic.... love it.

Personally I would rather vomit up my own entrails and then snorkel through
them than have a GTR.... but I can see how the technology would appeal to
some people.
Give me my old 308 GTB with carbs ANYDAY...

For me class and quality rules at the end of the day.

Gavin

I live in atl and the gtr is trash

They are on dealers showroom floors waiting to be sold!

No one goes into a Nissan dealership to drop $80k plus on a jap box

Sorry it is a cult car but that's it

It has no Panache what so ever!

  It's a fat girl in a thong!

A lot of ass but that's it

An d it is what it is

Sorry I didn't follow this thread properly but I have something to say
ANYWAY!

For me beating the system is to be able to buy and drive/ride what I
want..... and to do it's sensibly in a way that does not lose too much
money.
I am lucky in that I like older vehicles, so I can get them when they are
cheaper.
I always try to buy quality, never buy just for a profit, and I never
compromise on the model, spec and condition.

I have been lucky over the years that I have made good choices, so I have
"beaten the system" in a way as I have overall made good money on my bikes
and cars... which has allowed me to get BETTER bikes and cars!

Over the years I had friends that bought car after car, put heaps of time
and money into them and lost on every one.... because they were crap cars in

the first place. So I went straight for the Ferrari (errrrr.... after a
Lotus that made me realize how much I did want a Ferrari).

No regrets. I am lucky as for me it's the ultimate car. 1978 308GTB in
red/tan, full euro spec, 16 inch Ferrari wheels.... so me that it the top.
NO other vehicle would make me sell it to raise money.

Ok rambling now.... had a fall two weeks ago so I can't walk or work and I
have to much time and pain killers on my hands at the moment!!!
Can't even lean into the Ferrari's depths to refit the now charged battery
either... bugger it...

Regards
Rambling Gavin

Guys the 328 was no doubt the best 3 series 8 cylinder Ferrari ever built

Pricing got real stupid after the old man died which didn't help anything
when the shit box 348 showed up and the only car that was worst that that
car was the mondial!

The 348 is a fat girl in a leather skirt, everyone will look , but going
home with her is another story!!

The space shuttle has less service bulletins than the 348 so in reality the
348 doesn't count along with the Mondial when it comes to pricing 3 series,
8 cylinder models.

Tops price on any of these models regardless of what the Yellow baby shit
rag says(aka Ferrari market letter) is $30k.

You are buying 20 to 25 year car or older,, and yes it is what it is!

Now we get to the 2nd 3 series 8 cylinder cars 355/360/430/458

Those who bought in early on the 355 paid thru the nose for this girly car!

Yes Virginia it had power and a automatic gear box!

But wait that's what made it so damn popular in the first place

Those who now had deep pockets could join us who knew what a clutch was for
and now the unwashed was among us in SPADES!

The F-1 gear box opened up the market to any all comers to the prancing
horse, even the "P" and BMW crowd showed up when they wanted to get better
girlfriends and parking places !

Yes its true!

And when they made the Spyder OMG they really showed up, like mosquitoes in
Florida!

But that's when we found out about the damn seat tracks that would not let
the top down, and you could get wet!

Ferrari bought the tope mechanism form MCB but did buy the seat racks which
signal the top so there you go!

And the Dealers, Man these guys took these guys for all they were worth,
even buying back the first cars and giving those buyers cash and ramping up
the prices LARGE and I do mean LARGE

Remember seeing 355 spyders going for $185k back in the day?

What do you think that rage top 355 is worth now?

HUGO pricing comes to mind, and lest not leave out BMW 7 series pricing as
well.

Values that have sunk like a stone in a swimming pool!

Those poor souls who spent all that money on a car without traction control
and shit seat tracks!!

Lets not mention the valve guide and cracking exhaust flanges !!!

Anyway best price on this cracker would be $ 70k if perfect, but what car
is?

Hmmm

Now when the 360 came out the it killed the 355 resale hard, this car did
not need belt service so right there it was a winner in my book!

And guess what it had traction control(remember you had the "special needs
crowd " now buying the cars with the F-1 tranny)

And they did a pretty good job with the mechanicals over all

But it runs hot because of the intakes to the radiator sooo you don't see
many of them in daylight conditions or in stop in go traffic,

Basically if you can get by the so so styling this is the HONDA of Ferrari 8
cylinders!

Yep I said it

It has all the bells and whistles and all the jazz but it will shoo away
those who need cruise control and other orthopedic devices! (see Porsche !!)

The spyder drove the prices out the top and drug the coupes with it for
awhile anyway until the economy took a hit

And this is the model that cause the horse to shit over 5000 cars per year,
now everyone can get one!!

Where is that lurker that said Ferrari would never built over 5000 cars a
year anyway? Hmm my guess he is at Ferrari of HOUSTON talking out his Cowboy
HAT!

He is probably the guy who said Toyota would have the Championship in 3
years, remember that Bozo?

The only Toyota that could do that is Camry with a stuck accelerator!! (bad
clyde,bad clyde)

As with every Ferrari model ever made the end of year run is the one to get,
personally if I had to go GAY I would get one, but Ferrari is still making
12 cyl cars and that's where the REAL MEN hang out!

Pricing on this carnival ride is hard to pick since there is a slump in the
economy but my guess is whoresale oops! I mean wholesale is in the low to
mid six figures.

The car looks like ODD OGG half turtle and half frog to me!!

The 430 is more of the same with regards to the 360 just more HP (like that
crowd really needs it!) and less 6 speeds out there as well.

Once again this car put the final crush on the 355 pricing, I mean like a
Mafia Hit Man!

It was ugly for those poor soles in 355 land trying get some bread crumbs
for their car.

Those guys needed to drive their cars to Louisiana prior to Hurricane
Katrina and claim a total loss.

Most of those owners are too scared to drive into the ghetto with the keys
so they got to go natural disaster!

What uglier than a 355 leather dash board that has shriveled up? Please
someone tell me, I gotta know!!

Now on to the piece de resistance the 458!

This car even Motor Trend likes , like they really matter about anything in
the automotive world!

They picked FORCE INDIA for the F-1 championship!!

Anyway this car you don't see ever not even the posers have them ( you know
who you are, the ones with ZYMOL disease from washing and waxing your car)!

Who owns this car? It's like the NISSAN GTR, never see them only in the show
room. HMMM

Speaking of the GTR who's buying a $85K Nissan anyway?

You talk about the Japanese not know the market, you think they would have
learned for HONDA with the lead weight NSX so called Ferrari beater that
tanked liked Yakamoto did in the Pacific during WW2!

Anyway back the VONDERCAR 458

It's a killer ride but at $250k large have you lost your mind!

Not even DEEEEP POCKET STEVE JENKINS has one of these fly traps!

I mean if you have $250 large buy a man's car from FERRARI with 4 more
cylinders! I mean make a statement already not a phone call!

With all the hype behind this car and the space ship headlights, its going
hold its head above the water for a while.

My guess you can get an end of model year one that's on the show room floor
from any dealer for less than sticker, as the floor plan eats his ass alive
on the car, don't you love it!

That's it for me guys

Will post my take on the 12 cylinder market for those out there who want it

PS.

Hey if you drive a Mondial/ 348/355 into the forest and you crash it, will
anyone care?

Just a thought!!

Wow, world record length for a Clyde email!

Pretty funny...

Comments:

Nissan GTR is all the rage for the exotic crowd looking for an ultra fast
sidecar for drag racing. Twin turbo kits in the 1000-1500 hp range, with AWD
and launch control makes it extremely formidable. Better launch car than the
other AWD alternatives (911 turbo, Gallardo), and cheaper.

If u venture on the internetz you will find these all over the
forumz...every f'n day I have to read about these cars and see pics of 'em.

Way more successful than an NSX.

And the reason being is no one turns the wheel anymore.....just point
straight and shoot.

You sure you're not talking about the new McLaren? 458s are out and
about....you live in ATL, right? They're all over SoCal and South Florida.

It will eventually make a good buy......I think of the post 355 V8s, it has
really raised the bar.

I wish I'd been wrong about that when we talked on the phone last, my
friend. :(

Get a good attorney, and just let him/her handle it. And with the soon to be
ex, just do a LOT of listening, and vent elsewhere. Venting to her will just
make things worse. I'll be down your way in a few more weeks. Let's get
together and you can vent to me. :)

Q: Why don't cannibals eat divorced women?

Attached is a photo of a happier time, bro. :)

Yes, realistic values - not pie-in-the-sky values.

My dealer offered me $138 last year w/ 1/2 the miles
 and a year less age.

I can go to him tomorrow and ask for another quote.

I know "wholesale" (aka trade-in) will be even less.

We were supposed to settle this "amicably and without
 lawyers".

She hired one - she gave this incompetent boob about
1% of the pertinent information and he wrote up this
divorce filing (and filed it) that a 3rd year pre-law
 undergrad would tear to shreds.

My proposed "amicable" settlement was so generous as
to be foolish on my part - but I was doing it for my
son - when we're done - she's gonna owe ME money and
she has no income - ROFLMAO.
