Hi Ken, et al., Yes, early morning is one of my favorite times. And as you know, I like carburetted cars and unlike auto-adjusting FI cars, the old cars love the dense, oxygen-rich air. Great fun. Ken asked about my British fleet. Here's the update on everything: 2009 Toyota Highlander - Nancy's daily driver. Built on the Camry pan so its not much of a tow vehicle, but it will haul goodies home from the auto parts store. 2008 Porsche Cayman - My daily driver. Unlike the 911, the Cayman is mid-engine and water cooled. Therefore, the 911 community hates it. Well, that and the fact that its performance gives the entry level 911 a pretty good run for the money. 1983 Ferrari Mondial - Well, not technically my car any more since I sold it to a friend, but he's on assignment in Jakarta for a couple of years - and I'm keeping the car for him. 1979 Ferrari 308GTB - This is the car that I bought with Phil Tegtmeier's assistance in January of 1997 - sold to Ric Rainbolt - bought back from Ric Rainbolt - and still have today. Its restored to bright silver with a new navy blue interior. 1973 Jaguar E-Type - Nancy's sports GT. This is a Series III E-Type with the honking big 5.3 liter V12. This example was also found for us by Phil Tegtmeier. Its a better car than the seller advertised and probably even better than Phil expected. Its beautiful and smooth as silk. 1969 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow - Hell I don't know. Its just a car that I bought for a good price at the bottom of the 2008 financial crunch. It was an abandoned restoration. The cosmetics were done, and the mechanicals didn't really need anything. I just put the finishing touches on it. Beautiful and reliable old car. 1962 Triumph TR3b - Fun little British sports car. It greatly pre-dates its age in that this is the last model before the more conventional TR4 was released in 1963. Fun old fashioned car. And officially, I own my son's '06 BMW 325i but he's paying me for it in monthly payments. That's the fleet. A couple of weeks ago, Nancy and I got to spend a little time in London with Antony Shine and his lovely wife Suzi. We had afternoon tea, looked at pictures from EuroHallett, the Goodwood Festival we attended together, and the Factory visit in 1999 (?). It was really fun spending time with him. Antony and I are both gray now but Suzi and Nancy somehow haven't changed one bit! So again, thanks again my friends, for the kind words. -rick / Almost retired in Houston --- On Thu, 11/17/11, Ken Veary <smokestack20 [at] yahoo.com> wrote:
