Hi George, no, I wasn’t referring to you or to anything you’d said. However, now that you bring it up, I think you’re putting the cart before the horse. Whilst I obviously don’t know Alonso or anything about him, really, I believe the way McLaren treated him was abhorrent, and whilst I don’t approve of his actions, I’m not sure that he wasn’t pushed over the edge and acting out of desperation. Also, threatening to blow the whistle and actually doing it are two different things, but clearly Ron wasn’t willing to hang around and see if he would or not, so he went to the FIA first.

I think McLaren did the wrong thing by Alonso and, paying big bucks or not, I applaud him for not putting up with it.

I also think that if anyone acted like a spoilt brat, and got away with it, it was probably Lewis…just my view based on what I know. ….and let’s face it, what we’re fed in the press is usually BS anyway. Lewis still acts like a spoilt brat, but what we always seem to forget is that these guys are in their early to mid 20s with a ship load of money and are surrounded by yes men for most of their lives to that point. Can we really expect maturity?

Peter,

I'm not sure which "...hate for one driver or another..." you're referring to, but since I commented on my disdain for Alonso, I'll spell it out.

My dislike is not based on any "inaccurate news report" or "10 second interview" - it's based on his well-documented bahaviour while still at McLaren.  Any driver (getting paid what they get paid) who threatens his own employer with blackmail, does not deserve any F1 seat, let alone one at the most storied name in all of motor racing.  I was absolutely *DISGUSTED* when Ferrari hired him (they *LOST* points in my book for that).  He's a low-life punk who should have been kicked out of F1 for that whole mess (not that it was all his doing, but when he cried like a little baby over the Hungarian (??) qualifying debacle and threatened to "blow the whistle" to the FIA, he blasted the can of worms wide open).  When Ron Dennis went to the FIA first, my opinion of him went way, WAY up.  I just wish he had also fired Alonso right on the spot (or at least immediately following his meeting with FIA).

But not that I have an opinion or anything.....   :-)

And sorry if that's *not* what you were referring to.

George P.

p.s. - even if nothing does seem to change here on Flist, it sure is entertaining to have BHD posting again!
