As for this 512TR, miles are on the low side, color is stereotypically popular, condition is claimed to be "excellent" with documentation.  Market is $75K retail ask, why would one start with a lower asking price?  

That's not to say any given car changes hands necessarily above or below fair market value, but how can the seller arbitrarily start at a lower than market asking price?  

This is presumably a private sale and first time offered on the market.  If this seller is greeted with two buyers, both equally motivated to own this particular car, that's the number and all's well that ends well.  If the nature of the global depression means this car languishes on the market without active buyer interest, wholesale prices might be 20% or even 40% lower, no?
