TT Gallardo from what I hear is a ton of fun. Definitely seems to be a bucket list item for car ownership. Not sure how it fits into track day fun....
Any idea what the Gallardo LP550 market looks like? I know this is probably the least popular of the current generation Gallardo, being that it's not AWD -- which is why I like it. It's plenty fast....about as fast as Murci 640 and handles better. You would have to get a 458 to outperform it.
2nd generation Gallardos in general aren't selling well.....550/560/570, and they could receive a Clyde price if ever a new car could.
I'm typically more a fan of variety than all your eggs in one basket. Between #1 and #2....tough call. If you had to go with the 1st gen Gallardo I'd highly recommend at least '06 since they made some minor tweaks to the engine and quickened the steering a bit. The TT Gallardo fanboys do prefer the '04/'05 cars because of their taller gearing.....but only in that scenario.
I like the looks of the Gallardo more than the 430, but the driving experience of the 430 more than the G having driven both. Assuming for argument's sake this is a push, then it's a modified 996 turbo versus your current 911. Don't know which 911 you have now but from the sound of it you'd prefer the turbo 996.
So I'd lean more towards #1 assuming transmissions are not taken into consideration (stickshift vs. semi-auto.....I'll go stick regardless of car). I can see there's still a big premium for the Ferrari...not sure it is worth it.
I think most guys would lean heavily towards the TTG. If it were all street driving, I'd say yes. But if you want to mix in track, big wildcard there.

Howdy, folks. In need of some input.
Time for a new toy, and I've narrowed it down to a few options. For roughly
the same money, I can have...
1. An earlier Gallardo (2004/2005), and a modified 996 twin turbo with
sick, sick horsepower (though I'd have to trade/sell the yellow 911, which
I'd hate to do, but can't rationalize having 2 911s).
2. a 430 coupe with a manual 6-speed transmission, and keep the yellow 911.
3. Sell the yellow 911, and buy . . . A Gallardo. Turbo. With sick, sick
horsepower.
Thoughts? I seriously love TLJ's 996; it's been the most reliable vehicle
in my garage over the last few years, and only has 60k miles on it, and I
can take the girls out for rides in it, so I'm loathe to get rid of it.
OTOH, I'm now seriously, seriously in lust with a 996tt I found with 1k
horsepower (on race gas). I can't possibly justify having two 911s in the
garage.
So do I get the 996tt and add a Gallardo, just to keep it interesting? Or
do I keep TLJ's 996 and get a manual 430 instead?
The wild card is the TT Gallardo....
