Yes, it is certainly true for the early Biturbos. Besides electrical problems they had mechanical problems, too.
That reminds of the MGA Twin Cam. At the time it brought a bad name to a great car, with lots of orders being cancelled and the 1600 ordered instead (eventually). Today the Twin Cam is a collector's car with the mechanical problems solved a long time ago and its value is greater than all other variants.
We have to look at this things from a today's perpective, not 25 or so years ago. And rarity will sure play a role, too.
