Thanks Stephen - I saw it this morning and to expand on what you said just a little - a virus/malware/whatever was installed on thousands of computers - the malware would send people to a different DNS location where they'd be hit with adverts, XXX, and more malware hoping to extract personal info from peoples computers.   Evidently the government put a program in place that did not fix the problem but when a computer tried to go to the "bad" DNS it would be re-directed.   The govt program was costly and expires at midnight.    If you follow the link Stephen provided you;ll either see a green screen mening all is well (sort of) or a red screen meaning you have a problem.
