Some idiot from Virginia was running with me on I-85 south
into Georgia on Friday as I was coming back from DC.
He learned the hard way that he could not out accelerate a
512 TR!
It was fun to watch him disappear in the rear view mirror as
I went through 140 MPH plus!
We both started from 80 MPH
I just did a little background check as I'm not totally up on these billion variant Stangs: Shelby GT500

I can attest that most American muscle is not geared to win championships above 120 mph with their overdrive 5th and 6th gears. I remember an E39 BMW 540i (late '90s) beating a C5 Corvette to 150 mph by a noticeable amount.....a car that had a 63 bhp & 50 lb-ft advantage and lighter weight.....that's what happens when you gear 5 and 6 for fuel economy.
Now a 5-80 mph race will end far differently in most circumstances. Having said that, it's very cool that the 512 and other exotics have the autobahn power, still. And this story is why I love cars.
