But that said – (choke) about 15 years ago when I visited my local German car parts purveyor I saw a silver 1978 (the worst) 928 with a For Sale sign parked out front.  Says Helmut, he is selling his mothers 928 – a bit, uh, rough to say the least with dead silver paint and open the door it smells like a 1940’s car that has been left out in the sun and overheated.  Everything is brittle and a tad crusty.  BUT – Helmut produces the owners manual - - and THIS car is THE car in the owners manual.  The pictures, the VIN, and the holes where the Euro plate was screwed in.   Wonder what happened to that car?
