I don't know if Michael's problem an mine are related.

In my case I removed door panels, made a tool so I could loosen the nut that secures lock to the door, did not remove lock from the door as there is a nylon piece with a collar that snaps on a ball (tried for months to find that piece in case it breaks when removed) there is a threaed rod that looks like it is an adjustment.

 

But on the same subject but with a different approach - I reasoned that since it was happening to both doors in the time period, it has do do with springs, since I had lubed.

 

It was not a big issue with me as I never leave my 308 unattended.

A 50 mile drive in early weekend mornings stoping only for gas.

 

I just doubled checked and both door lock but won't unlock with the key.

both unlock when I pull the knob.

Play with the mechanism - does it 'work' when the lock tumbler in the door jam is 'partially' enganged?  Are the door seals new, or very stiff, that the door will not completely close in a manner that allows the lock to fully engage itself?  Will the key work to lock/unlock when both doors are open - or only the drivers' or passengers' door open - work through the possibilities to understand the fault.

I don't lock 81 308 GTSi if I have the top on as it will not unlock, either door with the key.

I have taken both doors apart, degreased, relubed, tested the motors, they work, both locking and unlocking but not by key.

I am sorry can't help with this one.

Ricambi has the door lock "discontinued", Eurospares has it for 77 pounds.
