Michael,

I could not disagree more.  Today's kids are like yesteryears kids, some make cars that go fast, some buy cars that go fast.  Todays kids know how to get into the computer and make the cars do wonderful things.  Carefully sizing Turbo impeller and compressor wheels, fine tuning fuel injection timing, duration, etc.  They get fantastic HP from itty bitty engines.  As to Ferrari's then I wholeheartedly agree.

Today's kids care about 'Going Fast', so I wouldn't lose hope on them yet.  They just are not mechanically-inclined.  They will buy fast cars - they will NOT want to, or know how to, tinker with them in the garage.  That's what today's modern Dealership an their $25,000 proprietary computer diagnostic equipment is for - and the dealership/parts supply network will then dictate which machines get fixed, and which ones will not.  This is already happening - where is the Factory parts and labor support for 355s, 348s, TRs, and 456s?  They're already being phased-out......

Have to agree here M.  But just as you noted the ROI on a full tank of gas but our joy is driving our 78 GTS, clashing the gears in a cold box, the sound of carbs on song getting on the freeway and getting thumbs up from young kids who know what a 308 is but have no idea what an Italia is.  Alas.   Public school system.

About the only vehicle that looks like a 308 GTB that will appreciate is 288 GTO.  So now you have an $800,000 car that looks like a $30,000 car.  Alas again – stinking public education system.
