Picture this Larry – flash back to 1989’s and we’re painting the 912 at Pino’s in Alhambra, CA.

I’m in and out of the shop checking on things and one day there is this gray 1970 911S.  Pino says - That’s Steve McQueen’s old car.  In for a respray.  Nothing drastic.  McQueen’s?  Nawwwwww.  Yeah, really – go look in the glove box and pull out the paperwork - - - - sure ‘nuff – one Mr. Steve McQueen all over the place from DMV to stuff in the drivers manual.  Wanna buy it?  May be for sale.

I came I<----àI close to buying that car.  Two things kept me from it.  Not enough money and it wasn’t for sale.  Alas.  Heh heh

So I'm laying in bed (it's been 8 weeks mostly) while my new knee heals and I'm bored so I check out Comcast On Demand and find a program called Fast N Loud..  They're a shop in Tx that buys cars, fixes them and sells them.

So a guy shows up with a trailer and a wrecked F40 in the back.  The Fast N Loud guy says Wow - that's a million dollar car fixed up!  The seller wants $400K and the body is broken along each side and all the bodywork forward of the windshield is gone.

I cannot imagine drivable F40 going for a million.  A broken one like this would bring more than 100K IMO - and I know almost nothing about the prices for this stuff.

There's not much on the net about prices other than 1 in UK with 42K miles for  £330 So I think my initial impression was right - that paid WAY too much for that car showing a complete ignorance for Ferrari values.  Of course the seller made out great!

Well, no more of that program!  Those guys are stupid!   Back to my tapes of Le Mans!   Let me know if my logic is wrong....

Take care -
