That's best unkept secrets about Carmel and Pebble Beach and Monterey. If you can stand the heat/fog/rain, riding a bike (motorcycle or bicycle) around is as much a feast as paying to go into Quail or whatever hoopla the hoi palloi mistakenly wish they could afford to attend. It's one of the few times, from year to year, when you can see a vintage Ferrari or Porsche parked by the roadside and have to question that it could be a legit vehicle and not a replica simply because only a replica would ever be left parked unattended and the real car valued in terms of millions, well, in this neighborhood, this weekend, perhaps it could be parked there, taking in a little sea air mist and salt spray. I like to show up far too early and watch the cars arriving and being marshaled into their places, or stay late to see them each fire up and go on their way. My two kids would complain that it took me an hour just to walk to the show, savoring in the machinery along the way, drawn down side roads at the glimpse of a tail light or a distinctive wheel before even handing over the tickets to walk into the main event. I think they've each come to appreciate motorsport despite me!

Cool pics. Sometimes the parking lot of motorsports events are as good as the event!
Goodwood remote parking was amazing when I went in 2003.
The same goes for Monterey.
