that's why my email PW is the most complex I have - of course I'm sure the NSA can get it as the Judge noted..

but have you ever known a email text to be read and the cc# stolen?    I never have,  but when someone is worried, I suggest they spread the numbers across 3 or 4 emails.  or call me..  or use my secure shopping cart..  where I don't have access..    ;-)

I would NEVER send a CC number via email.

Your email password is THE MOST IMPORTANT PASSWORD you have.
All of your finance accounts use your email to change your password, add a PC, most people do not understand that security of the their email account is the most important.

Hello Larry – if you had asked that question a few years I woulda called you Chicken Little.  Now I ain’t so sure.

About 12 years ago when I set up an account with the Ferrari dealer in Marenello, IT, I wrote them a story and kept all numbers to three digits and part of the story.  Apparently it worked just fine as I never had any problems until the Lire was replaced with the Euro.  Then the only problem then encountered was price.  Just about everything doubled in value at the store and DHL’s price also jumped.  That spelled the end to my super Italian deals which could be beat by my local dealership.  Go figure.

Subject: [Ferrari] OT - EMail Hacking question

Hi Gang,
Sorry about the OT post - tried google without success.

From time to time my customers need to provide credit card numbers and  such and email is often the easiest way but many people are fearful their info will be intercepted.   IMO, the possibility is very low and I'm not aware of any instances where it has happened.  (If my secure shopping cart is used, all the financial stuff is all done behind secure walls - or so I'm told.  I never even see the CC #'s.)

I tell them to spread the numbers across several emails to minimize the possibility.  seems like the shear number of emails flying back and forth must make it really difficult to snatch one enroute.   Anything is possible of course, but to grab one of the few emails carrying CC info seems to defy the odds.

What have ya'll found?  Any real life cases?  I know email address books are compromised all the time but that's not exactly the same as getting access to a email traveling between accounts.

    ??
