'What

Erik has made a critical observation. Always remember that *most* journalists reviewing cars are writers. They are generally not:
1. The target financial demographic of the exotic being reviewed
2. Engineers
3. Good drivers
By most of their logic, a 3 series BMW is the greatest thing ever created by humans. It is probably the most exciting car they could pass by the wife without getting beaten by her.
Save for some of the brilliance provided by guest writers (Phill Hill, Paul Frere, Sam Posey, etc.), a magazine/auto blog/newspaper exotic car review is typically written for the general public who does not share our passion for cars.
So...enjoy those tests/reviews for reference specifications and to be thankful that we have regular access to the cars that some of these guys would only dream of!

Just remember, the F50 was this guy's vision on what a Ferrari should be.

Heh heh â as far as the child safety seats go â Iâm with ya. BUT that said, the ownerâs manual does devote two pages to âchild safety restraints.â It includes how to set it up and why there is a manual belt on the passenger side. Covers size, weight, height â commands reader to read the seats manual etc. alas.
Could a kid tolerate the noise? Again â Iâm with ya. But one thing for sure â in a long trip an adult passenger is bound to lose a filling or two due to terminal vibration. My guess is that a person riding a â47 spring Harley can ride further per day than a passenger in an F50. Just
my take. As a driver? Iâll take it from Los Angeles to New York. Yeeee hah

It's funny how the 'critics' all panned the F-50, but one just set a record-price at auction for $1.5MIL a few months back. Let's see - stick-shift, check. Mid-engine Formula 1 V-12, check. Removable roof, check. Two seats and nuthin' else - check. REAL Pininfarina styling - check. Bad-azz noise in the back, check. RARE - check.....hangs with the F-40 on the track - check. Of course the critics panned it - it wasn't a BMW 3 series.
Child safety seat? Uh - HELL no. I doubt little kids would tolerate the noise, the heavy acceleration, the hard braking, rough ride, etc. Might as well put a child safety seat in a Lotus 7. Yea, that will work-out well....

The Ferrari F50 devotes several pages to how to correctly fasten a child seat to the passenger seat.
Never can tell when mama may want to use the car to get a quart of milk.

But you don't understand......there are buyers (whom Ferrari is courting) who WANT these 4-seat, all-wheel-drive, Italian-Mercedes hatchbacks. People WANT to haul their children, the dog, skiis, beach chairs, coolers, etc. in their $300K+ Ferrari during a Nor'Easter snowstorm in the Poconos.....because they want to. So, naturally, Ferrari had to build "them" a car.....and here we are.

That is a shocking photo. It must have been a heart attack for the "professional" (where's reverse on this thing?) driver.
I think everyone has the same reaction though: lucky break for the owner to have an easy out of the FFugly, just write it off to insurance and you're free and clear to go get an Aston Rapide or just get a Range Rover if you want four-up motoring in a prestige land yacht weighing a couple of
tons.
