I can’t speak for the others, but my disappointment ties back to the old bread and circuses argument, this is nothing more than a circus, pure entertainment, nothing more, nothing less. We “celebrate” a bunch of people, playing a game with arbitrary man made rules funded by the hopes that “we’re part of the excitement” and buy something. And I’m not singling out football, I feel this way about most big budget sporting events, F1 included, although I see some of the technology trickle down effect there to be more neutral on it, but it is still a circus and more hype than actual content. Can’t stand the taxpayer bill funding a commercial endeavor. If the “average” fan put half the amount of effort into trying to make things better across the board, we’d all live in a better world. The world needs more builders, more people actively engaged, and less passive watchers.
