As much as we hate to admit it, except for the drive train, our beloved Ferraris are 30-year-old Fiats. :-P
Its just remarkable how much cheap plastic there is in our cars! For example; When the Mondial came out it was quite expensive. Ever look at the dash? Vacuum formed plastic fake-gauge bezels! Same with my Testarossa. And although I get a bit of 'Chevy Vega feeling' from this, I am reassured that the money went into the 'go' bits, not the superfluous bits.
So when you repair your errant fan, smile quietly in the knowledge that the engine is still nicely in place.

PS: Plastic drills just like aluminum. It galls a bit from melting if a dull bit is used. Just use a sharp (new?) bit and don't rush it (to avoud splitting). All should be fine.
