Under the heading of unintended consequences.. Ferrari, Red Bull, etc. are pretty much screwed. The new rules called for development of a new engine. Once the season starts you can only make engines changes for safety or reliability issues. So, if Ferrari and Renault are down on power to Mercedes, with no development allowed, what you see now, is what you get for the rest of the year. Until the engine rules change, Mercedes cars will rule.
