I have to wholeheartedly agree here.

They say every exotic car purchase has to be somewhat irrational, but
this is beyond the love of Ferrari, the 250 GTO, etc. This is about
the crazy passion PLUS telling the world how big your dick is (maybe
even more so the latter).....at least if the price paid is closer to
$50 mill than $20 mill.

Of course never say never.....any one of us could do the very same
thing if we had the resources to do so. After all, trophy wives were
never just about what the chick did for you, but how she came off to
others. :)

Looking at through the lens of my exotic car experiences (and other
vices), I can't see a 250 GTO being multiples nicer than many other
similar vintage 250s and 275s. Always ask yourself how would you enjoy
the car in a vacuum, and you'll get an idea how you really feel about
a car.

Perhaps the most rational part of buying a 250 GTO is the speculation
part. As a buy and never sell proposition, it's a tough sell.

I'm not a big E type fan by any means, but the Eagle Type perfect
ground up E-Type coupe roadster goes for ~ £700,000.....and I think
that makes more sense. It's essentially a brand new E Type in 2014.

250 California, 365 GTB/4 Competizione, 512 BB, 512 TR, Miura SV,
Countach LP400S, Diablo GT, 288 GTO/F40/F50/Enzo/LaFerrari would seem
a far more rewarding collection.

ps - I really like the 250 GTO!
