Well it was the cat but it wasn't the Rolex, it was the AR 15 rifle that he was carrying!  :)

Was it the cat, or the Rolex the cat was wearing?

Another reason why cat discussions are frowned upon on this list!

I was at Foreign Cars Italia once (Greensboro NC authorized Ferrari/Porsche/Aston/Maserati dealer) and they had a Carrera GT in the shop missing the front clip.

I asked what happened and they said the driver hit a cat with it. Since it’s carbon it basically shattered it.

Replacement front clip was $6k not including paint or labor.

Bad kitty!!

I hear door dings on Carrera GTs and Mercedes SLR McLaren run about $30k to repair...

on another topic - I just finished reading the latest R&T (August) which is full of articles about super cars, hyper cars, etc - but the part I found the most interesting was the article about maintenance cost associated with them - Enzo ceramic rotors  are $6k each with the wrong fluids damaging them. McLaren F1 oil change is $8k (Ralph Lauren sends his 3 F1s to the factory for service BTW) - and this tidbit - warm the Enzo engine with the $60,000 engine lid open and the body will expand enough so the lid will not close until the body cools.  Stuff like that....   there's also a drive of the P4/5 built by Jim Glickenhaus.  The factory initially didn't want to have any part of it but when it was done they liked it and allowed F badges attached

anyway, it's a great issue about special cars -- I assume some of you may be accustomed to service costs like those above but they takes my breath away.     ;-)

Speaking of Ferrari auction. Steve McQueen's 275 GTB/4 will be auctionned in august at the Pebble Beach meet. The article says McQueen bought it new and was delivered to him during the filming of Bullitt. 330 were made. It was transformed as a cabriolet during the 80s by the owner (not McQueen of course) and transformed back to its original hard top style by Ferrari Classiche. Road & Track values the car at $8 millions.

Don't forget, the winner gets to babysit Justin Bieber for a day.
