Well at least you pulled the trigger ... and pressed the throttle.  I've had my fair share of less expensive, but no less wonderful pedals and metals. (to quote Weird Al,  : - o    )

Me, I have a book of stories of the ones that gots aways ... and I am not without esteemed colleagues; a friend with GTO who sold it for "much more than I paid!" ... in the early 90's ... but he has other horses in the stable, so I don't shed a tear for him ... : )

I was one of those reverse-reverse-psychology over-thinkers ... a tech industry startup windfall circa 2000 and I woke every morning to the mantra of "a fool and his money ... a fool and his money ..." so I wisely, every so wisely, employed Fidelity and (then) Morgan Stanley etc. to professionally fritter it away without me getting into the whole ordeal of owning Ferraris.  But I did get some really awesome statements and newsletters and invitations to "replenish you account in order to optimize returns" as they calmly advised that their every step was plotted directly above financial land mines which somehow took off my limbs and left them unscathed ...

Adam
ps.  my apologies to anyone in the financial services industry on the list ... you and I are unlikely to share agreement on anything outside the Ferrari world. : )

Tell me more about this $189K F40 ... reminds me of a particularly thickheaded dolt who decided "too good to be true" when passing on a '40 (scruffy, modified, unloved, idiot seat belts, but decent) circa 2001 just under $200K plus maybe $20-40K in deferred maintenance ...

I feel your pain, Adam. :)

I'm kicking myself because when I bought the F40 in 2004, I was also in the market for a 275 GTB/4 -- both of which were around the same money (high 200s). I told myself I'd buy the first "decent" one of either that popped up, and the F40 popped up first.

I suppose the F40 is more fun to drive, and so I'm far less tempted to ever sell it (as in not tempted at ALL) vs. a 275 GTB/4... but I do often wonder what would have happened if a nice 4 cam had popped up instead...
