Not to pile on but… I switched from Time Warner to DirecTV in October and have never looked back.  Just got tired of dealing with TW customer “service” and their DVR.  DirecTV is missing a couple of minor stations (channels… feeds.. whatever you call them now) but nothing major.  One thing I miss is having to reboot the DVR about every other day… the DirecTV DVR is very nice and plain works.

DirecTV was the best sat/cable provider I've ever had. Time Warner was ok, Comcast was terrible....

I haven't been much of a TV junkie the last few years but when I had DirecTV the ability to see a film halfway, and knowing that you can find the next upcoming showing and DVR it in advance was very cool. This is way beyond what comcast offers, which seems like premium cable TV for 1995.

The "comcast sucks" line goes through one ear and out the other until you actually have it and experience it. :)

And then there's that amusing customer service call lately of the rep who tried so stubbornly to prevent a couple from canceling their service.....it's online somewhere, pretty funny.

The big storms do take it out, but not all the time. Living in Charleston, SC at the time, it wasn't that often.

Of course if you're a big NFL fan, you need the Sunday Ticket and it's a DirecTV exclusive, and appears to be that way for a long time.

Now I'm pimpin on some AFN, lol....small screen, low definition.... a throwback to '80s TV....

I dunno which package. I just got the lowest priced package that includes more than local TV, and the HD upgrade. Oh, and the DVR. We don't watch modern movies so no premioum channels.

Comcast and UVerse have pretty large suck-factors. We had DirecTV since 1989, then changed to ATT Uverse about 2 years ago. We put up with it and the three failed (poorly rebuilt) modems and line cuts, for almost 9 months. We then switched back to DirecTV. Flawless ever since - except for that occasional afternoon thunderstorm interrupting 'Days of Our Lives'.

The only downside with DirecTV is that one looses service during big-cloud-thunderstorms. The quick remedy for that is to hook a wire to the antenna input so you can get local stations (assuming you live in the broadcast city) during storms. Or you can just turn it off and read a book. :-P
