Thanks Doug, I am planning to send my calipers out to them next week. And thanks for the plastic cap tip!

These guys do TRutlands calipers.  They are in Salt Lake City.  Made like new.  I did notice the plastic 13 mm cap was missing off the rear caliper that covers the Allen screw in the picture.  So if you still have yours – keep it.

Concur, I used to spend so much more time on the 308, doing multiple cam belt changes on my own and showing others how to do it, working on the other cars, etc. I'm not sure if I should be embarassed to admit that for this reason (less time to work on the fun cars) but this is a reason why I'm so enamored with our Model S now...no hassle, fast, fun, no cost (except those pesky monthly payments), etc.

Thanks Matt, I am having my mechanic do it this time – I found as I get older, family and life seem to get in the way of my prior fun projects(like working on the 308)

Mark,

If you're the one pulling the calipers off the car, then you're way more than halfway to rebuilding them yourself, at least in my experience. Granted, I did not split the calipers, but I doubt that's where your leak is...you probably just have to pop the pistons out of the caliper, replace that seal, then put the pistons back in with new dust covers. But with the adjustable rear parking brake stuff, maybe it is more complicated with a 308?

On putting R12 back in, I'd do it if I were confident that you had zero leaks. If you can ensure that and get 29 more years with R12, that would be awesome. Or you can talk with Rick Lindsay about his aftermarket system he helped design.

Wish I had the time for another mechanical bonding session.....  I redid all
the hoses a few years back, and it was a great experience(except pulling the
frickin' heavy duty radiator hoses through the driver side tunnel).

As an easier approach to brake repair, I found PMB Performance on the
Ferrarichat list, and apparently they do the 308 rebuilds for Rutlands, et
al.  $325 for both rears, not bad.  Do you guys have any experience with
them?

I am also having my AC recharged after 29yrs - any tips? (they said they
could use the original Freon, not the new stuff)

Thanks,
Mark

Leaky rear brakes = rubber seal breakdown.
Bond with your car for a day  -
DIY the easy rebuild.
It will improve your e-brake in the process.
I bought the O-ring kit at TRutlands.
