Though I bought a pair of off the shelf rectangular  sticky pads for 6 dollars 
from Halfords, our UK chain mototr and cycle parts store (and also a second 
pair to keep in the car for any future emergency) and cut them to shape. 
Atttached to the mirror base first then window. Not your order but it worked.

Before that I disassembled the mirror and gave the actual mirror a good clean 
(it had long annoyed me that is was dirty) as well as the inside of the cover 
glass and gave the ball joint some lubrication with a tiny bit of three in one 
(it had been really stiff which is no doubt why it fell off when moved). One of 
those little happenings that makes you sort out things . My mirror is now just 
so much better :-)
