Clyde,
Just curious, what are you going to do with the old 512TR motor? Coffee table? Core exchange? I'll do something with my euro 308 motor someday, whether it is rebuild it myself or more likely finding a good 328 motor to drop in, and if I do the latter I haven't decided what I'll do with my old motor.

Buying seats doesn't really bother me to muchBecause those individuals who do this are basically funding poorer teams who would go vapor unless these guys showed up with wads of cash and they really don't effect the sport as a wholeJuan Pablo comes to mind in this caseF-1 needs to stay at the cutting edge across the boardI am not a favor of the KERS system but electric cars are here to stay and the battery regernative technology is elfin magic right now ! But so was ABS and carbon fibre if we remember back in the daySo let them press the envelopeSpeaking of which, we had a 19 race season and only 3 cars caught fire, those of us old enough to remember the turbo cars of years past that would explode on a routine basisSo you see old becomes new and betterGotta Go change our my engine in the 512 TRHappy Holidays guysIn victory you deserve ChampagneIn defeat you need it!

But, it needs to be applied WISELY. This KERS/ERS racing thing is a joke and hugely expensive. They are just pushing the environmental impact out of sight. The FIA has Formula E now (just got through watching it) so they should play good citizen/tree hugger there and let F1 go racing again. I'll say it again, weight, wheelbase, displacement (modifier for power adders) and safety. Go racing. And no bought seats!!!Rick

It is time to reset the technology saw-tooth curve. That curve has complexity on the Y axis and time on the X axis. As time goes on things get more and more complex until a breaking point is reached. Then everything gets simplified, to resume a slow complexity climb again.Ok feel free to discuss among yourselves.Aerodynamics:DRS bannedWiden the cars back to 200 cmMandate flat bottoms (no diffusers)Mandate exhaust straight out back with last foot of pipe parallel to groundFront wing: One plane with defined endplatesRear wing: Up to two wings allowed, each one plane with endplatesNo wingletsDRS bannedSuspension and brakes:All moving suspension pieces must be metal (no carbon fiber)Brakes discs must be metal (no carbon fiber), brake pads cannot be carbon fiberFront tires: slick, 16 inch widthRear tires: slick, 21 inch widthEngines:Pump gasolineTurbos bannedKERS or ERS or whatever is bannedNo fuel flow limitNo refueling3.0 liter8, 10 or 12 cylindersNo rev limitNo development freezeLimit eight race and qualifying engines per seasonLimit eight practice enginesStandard engine ECULimit on exotic materials (e.g. exhaust pipes must be iron-based not some cupro-nickel exotic that results in $25000 exhaust pipes)And the term “power unit” will be bannedAll current driver safety components remainCar chassis must be carbon fiberPit stops:During routine pit stop only eight workers allowed to work on a car (one at each wheel, one at each end to lift/lower car, one at each end to adjust wings and help moving old tires out of harm’s way)Teams can enter up to three cars, but only the top two will score points (the third cars will be eliminated from points calculations)Points awarded:24, 15, 9, 6, 4, 3, 2, 11 point for poleTesting:Two days of testing allowed whenever there are at least two weeks between races.Esthetics:Numbers must be clearly visible from 50 feet distanceVeteran teams will return to historical numbers, other teams will be granted pairs that they will keep as long as they partake in Formula 1, since no one gives a damn about driver #15 or even knows who he or she is.Williams 5 and 6McLaren 7 and 8Ferrari 27 and 28Sporting regulations:Workers can push-start a stalled car back into the race when safeFinancials:
All teams must share in the revenue F1 generates (There will be some prize money, but not such that the worst teams get crippled). What made the National Football League years ago was some key rich owners deciding that sharing of revenue would help the league. That’s why there are no NFL: teams going bankrupt every other year.PatPat Scopelliti_________________________________________________________________
