Non-matching motor and Costco tires?

Even the ghetto wouldn't let that car in!

It's was a complete engine swap

A/c compressor and alternator

Just as the picture shows

Yea over 100 k on a water pump

But I think it's because I drive the car

Clyde, great project and love the pics.  I wish I had the facilities and time to do these types of projects but do not currently.

100k on a water pump on a vintage classic like the 512TR is pretty damn good...no doubt.

However, aren't you swapping an entire engine out at 100k?

It would be great if the water pump engineer got to design the rest of the motor!

Subject: [Ferrari] Water pump

While I was doing the work one of the other Techs asked me about the water pump and he was there when I thought I had a leak in my new engine after I had installed it

He was shocked when I told him that the original engine had never had a water pump and it had over 100k miles on it

And I fact I can't remember changing a pump on any of my cars

It seems that the technology has really helped in that arena

On another note I am hoping to tear down that old engine in the future to check it for wear

Currently the only weak spot on my car is the transaxle assembly which when I did the last major service had very little metal on the magnetic plug

The modern day lubricants are just amazing when it comes to this

Nothing like the old days of mineral based lubricants

With regards to my oh my god water pump leak, the pump has a carbon seal and since this was a 1993 that had not been driven much the seal was shrunken and needed to be heated up by the water and engine block assembly to seal properly

Another reason to drive you car instead of wax it!

Gotta go fly my last trip of the year
