BUWHahahahahah – good one Pat. Yeah – old 60’s “mint . . . numbers matching, race cars.” Rare rare rare. DOUG From: Pat Scopelliti [mailto:pscopell [at] stny.rr.com] Reminds me of the old family knife. Wonderful antique heirloom even if the handle has been replaced twice and the blade once. Pat Pat Scopelliti From: Ferrari [mailto:ferrari-bounces+pscopell=stny.rr.com [at] ferrarilist.com] On Behalf Of Doug & Terri Larry notes “There's another show where they buy old POS's and paint them, cobble them together and sell them -- IMO the buyers are getting taken.“ You’re really not far off Larry. The big 1980’s to riches Ferrari rush rescued more barn find Ferrari’s than you can shake a stick at. While it may be a joke – it’s not funny when two guys get together and they both have the same VIN’d Ferrari. I saw what was supposed to be THE number 1 Ferrari that had been over stamped – C001 or 2 or 3?. Even the experts couldn’t agree. Usually a high dollar racer. When the real car was growing up it was raced. It crashed. Off came the body, the engine, the trans, etc etc and they sort of went their separate ways. Now comes $$$ time and a the real frame has a newer motor, trans, body etc. The engine finds a new frame and the VIN is stamped in it and away we go etc etc. Now witness the long hood 1969 to 1973 Porsches – things are coming out of the woodwork and a terrible price is asked AND received. And the beat goes on. Viva PPI. Onward DOUG |
