Hi Friends,

Following on this thread...

I got the Testarossa home yesterday, as intended. The fast idle trick negated the idle problems, if sounding like a sticky throttle problem. In the driveway at home it got a bath. Sorry northerners. It was about 75 degrees and sunny here yesterday. Then again, we pay for this weather with 9 months of sweltering summer.

The car is really clean now. The paint is awesome. Here are a couple of glamour shots.

Yes, the evening sun makes the blood red paint look too orange. I could have photo-shopped the color temperature higher but didn't think of that until after uploading the images. Okay, one more.

After work this morning I'll start the repairs and FI update. The car is safely in the garage now and since its clean, I can work on and around it without rubbing gritty dirt into the paint. Pictures of the mechanical work are to follow since a few of you have shown interest. Besides, F1 season is still about 6 weeks away!

After the mechanical work is completed, hopefully successfully, I plan to freshen the interior. It is nicely clean but its been months since the leather has seen Leatherique. A nice leather treatment is in order followed by carpet vacuuming and window cleaning. Then a few highway miles are in order.

Those of you who know me know that I am a geophysicist, now retired from the oil and gas exploration industry. I still work a little, part-time, mentoring new scientists in the dark and dangerous ways of geoscience. We also know that oil price is in the toilet and small oil companies are going out of business. (Thank you Saudi Arabia. It will be nice to be back dependent upon foreign oil.) Anyway, I tried to resign Monday, to leave a few more coins in the coffer for the folks that still need to work. My employer countered with a request for 3 more weeks of work then switching to on-call status; to teach, consult, and work special projects. I agreed. Therefore, I'm soon to have a little more garage time and that's good. I still have 5 more cars with regular maintenance overdue.

And that's how this Wednesday is starting.
